Each year in Maryland, more than 630 people die in traffic crashes - most, if not all, caused by at least one poor decision. In fact, 93% of all traffic crashes are caused by driver error. Choose Safety for Life represents a coalition of safety partners and calls upon drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to make safe, sound decisions when traveling Maryland roadways. By making the right choices, you can save lives and prevent injuries.

	Maryland Inattentive Driving Program Nearly 80 percent of crashes involve some form of driver inattention within three seconds before the event.		Motorcycle Safety Education and training for motorcycle riders, awareness campaigns for motorists, and much more.



	Over the Limit. Under Arrest A zero tolerance approach on drunk driving. If you are caught driving impaired– you will be arrested!		Impaired Driving Prevention Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is criminal. Learn what you can do to save lives.



	Smooth Operator For more than a decade, MD, DC and VA have partnered on this public safety imitative to curb aggressive driving on our roadways.		No Zone The campaign goal is to increase awareness of the No-Zones -- danger areas like blind spots, around commercial vehicles, in which cars "disappear" from the view of the truck or bus drivers.



	Street Smart This public education, awareness and behavioral change campaign was designed in response to the challenges of pedestrian and bicyclist safety.		Tween Traffic Safety “Tweens” are defined as being children between the ages of 8-12 years old. These children are potentially too large for booster seats but, not ready for the front seat.



	Work Zone Safety The goal of this campaign is to raise public and driver awareness on the dangers of highway work zones.		Young Driver Traffic Safety The program is dedicated to saving lives and preventing injuries through various outreach opportunities that address this persistent traffic safety issue.



	Maryland Safe Routes to School The program is designed to make walking and bicycling to school safer for our children.		Seatbelts Save Lives While Maryland has an impressive 93 percent seat belt usage rate, our goal is 100 percent. Buckle up! It may save your life.



	Click It or Ticket One of the most effective campaigns in traffic safety combining education and enforcement. In Maryland, it has helped to create a 93 percent seat belt usage rate.		Diversity in Traffic Bridging the gaps and educating diverse audiences through traffic safety programs.



	T-Safe Traffic Safety Awareness for Employees (T-SAFE) is a partner with Network of Employers for traffic safety, which provides employers free to low cost safety-related material to distribute to employees.
